Chris Campe

Chris Campe is a designer and writer based in Hamburg, Germany. She studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) and the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (EnsAD) in Paris. After graduation, she traveled to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship to earn her Master’s degree in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).

Chris works at the intersection of text and image, art, and design. Her clients include book publishers, agencies, and companies, and she also designs stamps for the German Federal Ministry of Finance. Through her experimental lettering and personal projects, she explores the boundaries of letterform conventions and translates her experiences of the world into works that invite others to see themselves reflected.

Chris Campe is the author of six books on lettering and typography, teaches at various art schools, and speaks at events internationally. With a passion for bringing people together, Chris co-founded the »Berlin Letters« Festival and organizes the bimonthly meet-up »Typostammtisch Hamburg.«
